As can be seen, the sump oil was not too good!
The oil filter had also seen better days too....
As replacement felt filters were impossible to obtain it was decided to switch to a paper element
However, in the end a new base was machined to take a screw on canister oil filter. This is completely hidden by the original felt oil filter cover.
